A GLANCE TO THE HISTORY OF AZERBAIJAN STATE AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY
On 15 may 1929 according to the decision of Azerbaijan National Comissar Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute was establsihed in Baku. The Institute was moved from Baku ot Ganja in 1931.
On May 1932, 10 - year anniversary of this education and science temple was held in a narrow range and “Anniversary collection of AAI” was published in the amount of 50 printed pages with 1000 copies (500 in Turkish and 500 in Russian languages) in  “ Qizil Sherg” (Golden east) printing house.  Since then, the establishment date of the institute was  estimated December 16, 1920, not 1929.
Azerbaijan Agricultural Instiutute started to be called Azerbaijan Agricultural Academi on June 1991 according to the Order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic and  Azerbaijan Agricultural Academy started to be called Azerbaijan State Agricultural University accoring to the decision of Council of Ministers dated 4 April, 2009, № 53.
This educational center was confirmed as a state higher education institution which is acting on the principle of self-government accoring to the degree of President of Azerbaijan Republic dated 13 June, 2000, №349.
Azerbaijan Agricultural Academy was awarded with “Golden medal of utility industry association” of France on April 2001.  
7 faculties (agronomy, agritechnoly, veterinary medicine and zooengineering, engineering, electrical engineering and information, agricultural economics, agribusiness  and management).

The number of students studying
Generally 5040 students study in bachelor’s and master’s levels.  There are 4667 students in bachelor’s level ( 788 students on state scholarship and 3879 students study fee-based). 3638 students study full- time and 1029 students study part-time. There are 373 students in master’s level (164 students study on state scholarship and 209 students study fee-based).  288 students study full time  and 85 students study part-time.
